Ingredients

    1) Bitter gourd cut into thin round pieces 2 cups
    2) Turmeric powder a pinch
    3) Chilli powder 1/4 tea spoon
    4) Curd 1 cup
    5) refined oil 1 teaspoon
    6)salt to taste
    7) Mustard

Directions

In a pan heat oil. Add mustard seeds. Once it starts to splutter add the bitter gourd pieces and saute till they get cooked or reduce to half the original size. Add turmeric, chilli powder and salt.
Remove from flame and mix in the curd. Mix it till a semi gravy is formed.

    I cook with bitter gourd also. However, I marinate the bitter gourd in salt for about 2-4 hours and squeeze out all the salt water, to get the bitterness out. Using yogurt is a new idea for me. I seasoned it with curry leaves and 1 tbsp of olive oil besides the mustard seeds, Yum! Thank you:) - 9/17/09
