Introduction
To reduce sodium I used only 1/2 the seasoning packet for the Rice-a-roni, and rinsed the canned chicken thoroughly. I also only used 2 tbsp butter instead of 3 when preparing the Rice-a-roni. **NOTE** nutritional values for the Rice-a-roni include the 2 tbsp butter... Ingredients

Chicken Rice-a-roni, family size package
2 tbsp butter
2 cans Kirkland canned chicken breast, drained & rinsed
1.25 cups Snap peas, chopped
1 can sliced water chestnuts, drained & rinsed
0.5 tsp Garlic powder
0.5 tsp Onion powder
0.25 tsp Black pepper
Directions
Prepare Rice-a-roni according to package directions, EXCEPT use only 2 tbsp butter instead of 3 and use only 1/2 the seasoning packet.
Add onion powder, garlic powder and black pepper when you add the water.
While this is simmeriing, drain & rinse the chicken and water chestnuts. Chop the snap peas and the water chestnuts.
Add the chicken, snap peas and water chestnuts to the pan after simmering for 10 minutes, cover again.
Simmer for another 5-10 minutes, until rice is tender and liquid has been absorbed.
Makes 6 servings, approximately 1.25 cups each.
