Ingredients

    Ingredients:

    campbell's consumme 125ml, 8 serving
Dempster's Smart Bread 100% Whole Wheat, 4 serving
    Oxo Cube, 3 serving
    Onions, raw, 2 cup, chopped
    Swiss Cheese, 1 oz

Directions

sautee the chopped onions in a skillet until soft (not carmalised)

put consumme and oxo plus 6 cups of water into soup pot, add onions once cooked. Bring to a boil, reduce, then simmer for 20-30 minutes.

toast the bread, chop into cubes and finely shread the cheese.

put soup into french onion soup bowls, top with toast and sprinkle cheese (1 oz is usually good, some like more) . Broil in oven watching carefully that it doesn't burn (takes maybe a minute).

eat while hot, but watch the bowl and the soup (very hot!).

you can change the cheese type and bread to further reduce calories, you can also sub reduced salt beef broth for the consumme, but this is pretty darn good and I think the beef broth takes away from the taste.
