Introduction
My husband loves to hunt, so we always have a freezerful of venison. I have been trying various recipes over the years and I think this is one of our favorites. Ingredients
-
1.5 lbs. ground venison
1 lb. bag of dried kidney beans (soaked and cooked prior to adding to chili mixture)
2 cans (29 oz.) Tomato Puree
1 can (6 oz.) Tomato Paste
1 large onion - chopped
1 green or red bell pepper - chopped
5 tbsp chili powder - more or less to taste
OPTIONAL: depending on how hot you like it!
2 jalepenos - chopped
1 habenero - slitted and put in whole
Directions
Heat large frying pan on med-high heat. Add a touch of olive oil and then add meat, onion and bell pepper. Cook until meat is browned throughly.
Add all items to crockpot. Cook on low 6-8 hours. Add jalepeno and habenero sparingly, so you don't make it to spicy. We like medium hot chili and this amount of peppers works for us.
Makes approximately 10 2-cup servings.
