Introduction

Simple to make sauce - great over corn bread, with granola, in a crepe - endless possibilities! Simple to make sauce - great over corn bread, with granola, in a crepe - endless possibilities!
Number of Servings: 16

Ingredients

    2 cups chopped rhubarb
    1 cup orange juice
    1/4 cup agave nectar or sweetener of your choice
    2 juniper berries
    1 whole star anise
    1 cinnamon stick
    1 clove

    2 cups hulled strawberries
    ΒΌ cup Grand Marnier
    or dash of orange extract

Directions

Combine first 7 ingredients in saucepan and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Add strawberries and orange extract or liqueur and remove from heat. Let sit a few minutes. Remove spices.

Makes approx 4 cups. Serving size = 1/4 cup.

Serving suggestions:
Serve chilled or warm over corn bread. Combine with granola, add to yogurt, serve in a crepe.

    I have rhubarb in the garden and found this recipe to be delicious. I especially love the ideas you gave for using this sauce and will try it with the yogurt and granola. - 5/10/09
