Ingredients
-
1 medium sized artichoke
1 tsp olive oil (optional)
dash of salt
dash of black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dried rosemary (or fresh, if chopped finely)
Directions
Take the artichoke and cut it in half, the long way. Put the 2 halves into a ziploc bag. Add all other ingredients (olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder and rosemary).
Seal the ziploc bag. Put in microwave for 5 minutes on medium-high (depending on your microwave, the time might vary).
Carefully remove from microwave (it'll be hot and full of steam!). Take the two artichoke halves out of the bag. The edges of the leaves should be dried out and brittle, while the part closest to the center (the heart) should be soft.
Using a spoon, scoop out the fuzzy middle of the artichoke. You don't want to eat this!
Put the two halves on a plate, and simply peel off the leaves, eating the delicious heart that is attached to the end of each leaf!
Note: you can serve this with dip if you'd like (ranch dressing, garlic butter, etc.).

DO NOT FOLLOW THIS RECIPE EXACTLY!!!! Use a microwave dish with cover for starters - high temp plastics are not good! Remove the choke BEFORE you cook it or you will never get the choke out without a whole lot of good flesh along with it! I like the simple seasoning but SKIP THE DIPS!! Why the Dip? - 4/29/12
