    1 Tbsp. olive oil
    1 c. chopped onion
    3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cans (14.5 oz.) Italian style stewed tomatoes, undrained

1/4 c. chopped fresh Italian parsley
    1 tsp. dried basil leaves
    1/4 tsp. ground black pepper

    Very Good
This pasta fagioli is like the one my mother made! We called it the "poor man's soup", unlike the versions with meat and fancy stuff in them! It is also much better for a lo-carb diet (also diabetic). The chicken broth is a great addition ...oh it makes it delicious! Thank you for sharing the recipe - 11/28/13

    Incredible!
Loved it! Whole family raved. I doubled it because we have a large family. It was even better the second day. I did throw a handful of bacon bits in it. :) Thanks for a great recipe! - 3/11/13

Parmesan is great on top! I also make it using other types of beans. And sometimes I add carrots, too!
