Ingredients

2 cups all purpose or whole wheat flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 cup warm water
    1/4 cup cooking oil

Directions

All ingredients should be at room temperature--except the water which should be warm.

Mix flour and salt together in a large bowl. Slowly add in warm water until a thick dough has formed. You probably won't need the entire cup of water.

Add 1 tablespoon oil to the dough. The rest of the oil will be used to fry the chapati. Knead dough for a few minutes adding in a few spoonfuls of flour as needed. Cover with a cloth and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.

Divide the dough into six balls. Flatten them into 6 inch circles. Pre-heat a greased skillet to medium heat. Fry chapati until each side is golden and spotted. Each chapati should be turned only once. Re-grease pan as needed.

Cover finished chapatis and place in a warm oven until they are all done.
