Ingredients

    2 3/4 cups whole-wheat flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    1 cup butter, softened
    1 1/2 cups white sugar
    1 egg
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

1.Set out butter to soften. This is a very important step. If the butter is not soft enough the cookies will crumble and not taste as good!!!
2.Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.

I took the other person's advice and followed the recipe but added cinnamon, because I love cinnamon. They were quite a hit. Texture was the only thing keeping it from being 5 stars. - 1/17/11

    Very Good
My daughter pronounced that they tasted "just like Nana's cookies." High praise, indeed. Thanks! The only thing I would like to have seen is having them "fluff up" a bit more. They were rather flat when all said and done. - 12/5/16

    Very Good
Great! I adapted it to my likings and posted the recipe as "Easy Fluffy Sugar Cookies". I added 1 tsp lemon extract, mixed 1 cup whole wheat flour with 1 3/4 cup white flour, and mixed 1/2 cup margarine with 1/2 cup butter. I left the butter out to soften and they came out AMAZING - will make again! - 12/7/09

THIS IS A GOOD RECIPE. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IN IT AND MY PREVIOUS RECIPE IS IT DIDN'T INCLUDE CINNAMON SO I INCLUDED CINNAMON IN THIS RECIPE TOO. IT WAS VERY GOOD AS WELL. - 8/30/09
