Number of Servings: 3

Ingredients

500g Gruenkohl/Kale washed and roughly chopped
    1 onion chopped
    Olive oil
350g Kasseler or smoked ham hock off the bone
Water and a ham stock cube

Directions

Makes 3 servings

Brown off the Kasseler in a very large pan with the olive oil to get some flavour into the pan and then remove. Set aside.
Add the Gruenkohl and about half of the onion and cook on a high heat until it falls into itself. Add the rest of the onion, the crumbled stock cube and water to cover.
Simmer gently for 3hrs in a closed pan, stirring occasionally.
30 mins before the end of the cooking time add the Kassler cut into slices.
For a more intense flavour, cut the Kassler into 4 slices and shred one slice into the Gruenkohl mixture as you add the slices.
