Introduction

Ingredients

    8 oz day-old french bread
    6 oz 2% milk
    1 egg
    4 packets splenda
    2 small granny smith apples
    1/4 c dark brown sugar
    1/8 c butter
    1/4 t cinnamon

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees
1. Combine milk, egg and splenda in a large bowl.
2. Add bread cubes and mix thoroughly, soaking bread with the liquid.
3. Melt butter with brown sugar and cinnamon in a large saute pan. Add peeled, sliced apples and cook about 5 minutes, until tender.
4. Place cooked apples in the bottom of a buttered loaf pan. Add the soaked bread on top and bake for 20 - 25 minutes at 375 degrees until golden brown. Serve when cooled with your favorite whipped topping or ice cream.

    I doubled the apple/brown sugar/butter part, since we were serving it to company, but I am sure it's fabulous as written. I will DEFINITELY make it again!! - 2/15/10
