Introduction

Ingredients

1 lb ground chuck
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup ketchup
1 tblsp chili powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp ground cumin
1/2 cup water
Directions
Brown ground chuck in a frying pan then drain well
Return cooked ground chuck to frying pan over medium heat
Add chopped onion, ketchup and seasonings
Add water and bring all to boiling, reduce heat and cover
Allow to simmer at least 15 mins, but longer is better
Continue to add just enough water to keep chili from sticking
When ready to use, remove cover and allow any extra water to cook off until desired consistancy is reached. Don't allow to dry completely out.
One serving = 1 ounce or about 2 tablespoons

My family has been making a spicier version of this since the 50s. We call it taxes hot sauce. We put it on hot dogs, actually white coney dogs/snappy grillers, and fish snadwiches. Dh and I also put it on veggie burgers. It also works with tortillas as a quasidilla or taco. - 1/23/10
