Introduction

Ingredients

    1 bag ( 16 oz or 2 cups) dried split peas, sorted and rinsed
    5 cups water
    2 cups low sodium/low fat chicken broth divided in half
    2 Tbsp dried parsley flakes
    2 Tbsp powdered onion
    2 Tbsp ground black pepper
    dash of salt
    1 cup grated parmesean cheese


Directions

Makes 6 1.5 cup servings. In large stock pot. put in water and 1 cup of the chicken , parsley flakes and onion powder broth with the dried split peas. Heat on high until a good boil starts. Stir well and reduce to a simmer and cover with lid partially off pot. Let simmer for 60-90 minutes, or until peas are mushy. Feel free to add more water if needed to cook down peas better if desired. Stir in parmesan cheese and last cup of chicken broth. Leave on simmer until will heated and blended.
