Introduction

My very favorite way to serve Brussels sprouts! My very favorite way to serve Brussels sprouts!
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

1 pound Brussels sprouts, washed and quartered
3 slices center cut bacon, fat trimmed
1 tart, crisp apple, cored and cut into chunks
    1/4 cup unsweetened apple juice
    2 tablespoons diced red onion
    Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add bacon strips. Cook, turning once, until browned. Remove the bacon to a cutting board and slice into 1″ pieces. Reserve 1tablespoon of the bacon drippings and discard the rest. Add brussels sprouts and apples. Pour in the apple juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes or until sprouts turn bright green and tender. Add bacon back to the skillet, and cook for 2 more minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve immediately.

Makes about 6 servings.

I have used this for years now EXCEPT for the apple. My original recipe was called "Brussels Sprouts for people who Hate Brussels Sprouts" and so far I have a number of converts to love them. Great job posting this and I will use a sweet apple instead of the Granny. THANKS ! - 11/20/13
