Introduction

This is a mixture of Boston and Manhatten style clam chowders. It's the way my Mom taught me to make chowder.
Sometimes I will make a pot with 3 cans of clams to make it extra clammy. Remember to add the extra calories if you add more clams.

Ingredients

2 cans whole baby clams, undrained
1 bottle clam juice (if available)
6 slices side bacon, cooked and crumbled
    1 cup chopped yellow onion
    1 cup diced celery
1 large potato, peeld and diced
4 cups low sodium chicken broth
2 cups low sodium diced canned tomatoes
    1/2 cup dry milk powder

Directions

Cook bacon with onion and celery in large soup pot. Add the rest of the ingredients, except the milk powder. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes, until vegetables are cooked. Sprinkle powdered milk over chowder and stir. This will thicken your soup and make it slightly creamy.
