Made this cake for a dinner party and it was a big hit. I omitted the frosting and only used Cool Whip Free as a topping. Brings the calories down with 16 servings. Bigger slice for everyone. Will keep in my recipe collection.
This is the same recipe I've made for years, but mine was the full fat version. I'm thrilled to find it's low-fat twin. The baking time is normally 30-35 minutes, based on your oven. And, 8 oz. of topping is plenty for a 9 x 13 pan. I used 12 oz. to frost an 8" 2-layer cake.
I made this for my husband's birthday. It was delicious! I made the mistake of getting the wrong sized container of fat free whipped topping, so the icing was a little running, but it still tasted GREAT!
My daughter made this for my birthday party...big hit. The cake is moist, the flavor wonderful. Even those that didn't think they would like a "low-fat" cake loved it.
I love this cake in its full fat version and I can't wait to make it now that it's been slimmed down! I like using a coconut cake mix instead of the yellow one sometimes, very tasty.
Good. Easy to make. Husband loved it. I only used 1/2 container of cool whip. Used fat free cool whip & pudding. Baked it 35 minutes. Cake would make a great short cake for any type of fruit. Will make again. Thanks.
I read it and just had to make it. It was delicious. I don't mind substituting another food for the calories in the cake, but it not having cholesterol was the winner for me.. Thank you.
Used fat free pudding and it was delicious!
BONNYR...Look for fat free topping in the freezer case. Cool Whip is the most well known brand and there is usually a store brand as well.

Sounds delicious, but too many calories for me. Maybe I could try to tweek it.
can someone tell me what brand of fat free whipped topping I purchase for this recipe. I''ve never used whipped topping so I have no idea if it comes in a tub, a bottle, or a package etc. Please advise me so I can make this recipe.

This was wonderful! I used ff/sf pudding, and Dream Whip instead of Cool Whip -- less transfats, I believe. Guests loved it, too!
Reduce the calories by using sugar-free pudding mix. Great recipe!
its easy to do ,if you can get everything to buy
what is fatfree whipped topping
we have not even fatfree whipped cream
Fantastic - would never know it was lowfat. The topping would be good to spilt and use only halp on the cake and save to make for another time as a pudding or topping for angel food cake.
