I've been making this for years, now you can buy cherry pie filling with no added sugar. We love this with fat-free whipped topping. It is so easy and so yummy!
I know this is delicious, I have made it before, but I did the calculations on the sparkpeople recipe builder and divided by 15 servings it came to 263 calories and 10 grams of fat. Not the worst dessert but not 125 calories. 3 stars because of the calories...
OMG! I made this for a play date with my friends and their kids today. It was absolutely delicious! I too used sugar free pie filling and pineapple in its own juice, plus Blue Bonnet Light margarine. I will definitely make this again!
I love this recipe. When I make it I melt the butter and drizzle it evenly onto the cake mix. Next time I am going to try it with the low sugar cake mix and sugar free pineapple as someone suggested. I think I could reduce the amount of butter a little too or use butter buds.

I make this often but I substitute sugar free pineapple and pie filling, use the low sugar cake mix you can get (Pillsbury???), and I use reconstituted Butter Buds instead of yummie!!!!!
I can't believe that the calorie count on this recipe is accurate. Dry cake mix, butter, cherry pie filling all have a lot of calories.
Yummy! I've seen this recipe before but had no idea it was so smart on the calories. I think I'll be making it more often now! It is really great when you can have it warm with ice cream / frozen yogurt.
We have made this cake for years but added coconut and chopped pecans. That would be more calories I am sure. Great.
