Introduction
This is delicious and easy to make !!Usually Chili Recipes use ALL canned beans and the sodium level in canned beans is ridiculous so I have used a combination of both dried beans and canned beans in order to lower the sodium intake. When using canned beans, the majority of the sodium is from the liquid the beans are stored in to preserve them. I rinse, soak and rinse mt canned beans in order to ensure I get rid of all that sodium slop, I also use very warm water to rinse the beans, this will reduce the sodium by more than 75% per serving.
ENJOY!

Ingredients
-
1 can red kidney beans (rinse very very well)
2 cups canned chick peas (rinsed very very well)
2 cups Bob's Red Mill 13 Bean soup mix (dried beans)
1 large chopped onions
3/4 cup grated carrot
1 cup diced butternut squash (small cubes)
1 lbs extra lean ground turkey
1 can tomatoes (plum)
2 tbsp tomato paste
4 tbsp chilli powder
3 cloves minced garlic
4 tbsp splenda brown sugar
Directions
**You must follow the directions to soak the dried beans on the package, you can either rinse beans well and soak overnight or you can boil them for 5-8 minutes and soak for at least 1 hours, then rinse well and drain, add to chili and they must cook for at least 1.5 hours more in your soup or chili. These dried beans can be bought at any Organic Health Food Store or Grocer.
I add all the ingredients raw into a pot on the stove, (yes even the ground turkey is raw) bring to a boil and then let simmer on low for 1.5 - 2 hours. You can also use a crockpot if you prefer and let it simmer on low for 6-8 hrs.

I used a regular sized can of tomatoes...next time it will be a large one; had to add about 1 1/2 cups of water because it was too dry while cooking. Served it with cole slaw, onions, and cornbread made with eggbeaters. Definitely a keeper! Hubby loves it, too! Will definitely make again. T you - 3/12/10
