Scrumshillyitious! I made it today in my crockpot! I used HOT curry-powder for kick. Only took 10 minutes of prep this morning-done @ 4PM. It's more like a stew or chili, but YUM-ME! After tasting it, the only thing I added was a couple Tbs of fennel seed, but one b4 cooking should do. Luv it! - 8/5/08

AMAZING!! A very tasty blend of spices. I took some tips from the other comments, doubled spices (didn't have tumeric). I added hot pepper flakes. I used green pepper instead of peas. I only had 1 cup of tomatoes so added 1.5 TBS of tomato paste. I also boiled the potato ahead and then diced it - 11/30/08

This was awesome! DH loved it. I read some reviews and cooked it as written, I also omitted the tumeric because I didn't have any, and was still great. The following night we had it again, but this time I added cayenne pepper to kick it up a knotch, and boy it was even more terrific! Thanks! - 9/8/09

I made this last night and it was tasty! My garden is overflowing with tomatoes so I used fresh, and don't think I'd use canned in the future. I'd probably double the spices - I added liquid & couscous directly into the pot about 5 mins before serving, and the couscous soaked up a lot of the spice - 9/2/09

The only thing I would suggest to improve this very tasty recipe is to add cooked potatoes, because there is not enough juice for the potatoes to get tender in the pot.
Very different. My husband said... I smell apples. Are there apples in here. I guess it was the cinnamon. Thanks for sharing - 11/10/09

My family loved it, esp. my teenaged daughter. Doubled (or more) spices; added cumin/mustard powder. Used a variety of leftover frozen veggies. Made tortilla wraps w/it for lunch next day. (The ginger helps w/heartburn/gastric distress so even though it's spicy it's pretty easy to digest and enjoy.) - 9/15/09

LOVED IT!!! I substituted tomato paste + 1 3/4 c water for the tomatoes..and added 2.5 tbsp curry + some crushed red pepper. We love spicy food. The rest of the seasonings were perfect in there. The taste is amazing. We had some naan bread with it and served w/rice so that added cals. GREAT! - 4/28/08

I fixed this as the meat for my New Years Dinner. I have to say I was afraid to fix it (something new) the aroma filled the house. My husband and stepson loved it me too. Hubby thanked me three times for a great meal. Used sweet potatoes, doubled the spices, I used a pinch of sugar. Will make again. - 1/2/10

I have never made this food before because all of the recipes I've found are too complex for a mom of two to figure out so I gives a big fat smile to this easy recipe since I had all the ingrediants at home!! Seems like a lot of comments are by people that haven't tried it yet. So give it a turn! - 12/6/09

We really liked this. My daughter said something was missing though. Was wondering a couple things: 1. How would turkey change the flavor? and 2. How much fresh ginger would I use? Someone told me I would have to use 4 tablespoon, is that accurate? Please sparkmail me if you know the answers? Thanks - 9/23/09

This was great! I did not double the spices, but I did add a little salt and pepper. Most canned tomatoes have a lot of salt, so I didn't add much at all. I figure people can always add more at the table if they like. We ate ours over brown rice, and it was very good and filling! 3/4 cup/serving? - 9/19/09
