Ingredients

    *Split Peas (dry), 2 cup (remove)
    *baby red potato - small - one potato, 5 serving (remove)
    Onions, raw, 1 small (remove)
    Celery, raw, 4 stalk, small (5" long) (remove)
    Carrots, raw, 6 medium (remove)
    *Chicken Bouillon - Wyler's Granules, 8 tsp (remove)
    Water, tap, 8 cup (8 fl oz) (remove)
    Brummel & Brown, Original Spread made with Yogurt, 1 Tbsp, 2 serving (remove)
    *Farmland Ham Steak 1 slice = 1 serving, 5 serving (remove)
    *1 bay leaf, 3 serving (remove)
    *Garlic Powder, 1 tbsp (remove)
    Thyme, ground, 1 tbsp (remove)

Directions

1. Place split peas and 2 quarts water in large saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat; reduce heat and simmer 30 min. Drain.
2. Heat Oil in 4-quart saucepan. Sauté onion, carrots, celery and garlic in oil over medium-low heat until tender - about 10 min.
3, Return the split peas to the saucepan.
4, Add ham bone, cubed ham, 2 quarts water, salt and pepper. Cover and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and simmer 1 hour. Remove cover and continue simmering until desired thickness. stirring occasionally.
5. Remove ham bone, cut off any remaining meat. Dice meat and return to soup before serving.
Makes 12 servings of 1 1/4 cups.

    omitted butter and just added veggies to soup to cook instead of cooking separately... only one pan and everything cooked together... less mess and less calories - 12/30/20
