Thie receipe is very good. This is actually lazy man galumpkies which is a polish meal. I added ground turkey. Next time I'm going to reduce the amount of rice (1 1/2 c.) and add more cabbage along with a can of tomato sauce for a little more flavor. Thank you for sharing. Tastes great. - 3/3/09

Loved this! Very tasty. I think I will also try using barley or bulgar instead of the rice. - 1/19/09

I made a half recipe with lentils instead of brown rice (quicker cooking...) The one thing my son and I both agreed on is that it needed more zing. If I'd had sauerkraut, I would have added that, but since I didn't, I added a couple diced pepperocini and some of its juice. Much better. - 3/9/09

Very good but also very bland (but we used ground turkey instead of the sausage as we had none on hand). Next time definitely need to cut down on the size as we have so much left over for just my husband and I. - 10/31/10

This sounds delicious. I'm going to try it with Boca Burger to make it vegetarian. Probably will add it last so it won't get mushy. I love cabbage - 3/20/09

I am not a cook and my husband is not a fan of healthy food but this recipe worked for both of us. Its been added to my cookbook. Delicious and easy. The only hard part was finding Italian turkey sausage. - 3/12/09

I anticipated that there would not be enough seasoning for my tastes and added extra garlic, some Mrs.Dash, and a little cayenne & cumin just because I like the hotter spices... but as a rule, cabbage roles tend to be rather bland and I add other spices when cooking them as well. Very tasty now!!! - 1/2/12

I make something very similar using saurkraut 20 oz can, 1 lb lean ground beef, 1/2 lb turkey bacon, one onion chopped and 3 cups of rice (brown) 2 cans of stewed tomatoes adding water as needed. If anyone knows how to figure out the nutritional informatoin let me know we love this recipe - 5/13/09

I made this today. I didn't have brown rice, so I used white rice. I also used lean ground turkey instead of turkey sausage and I added 4 roma tomatoes I had in my freezer from my 2008 garden. We loved it! - 3/10/09

Really good! I made it last night in a regular stew pot - I didn't even need to cook the cabbage, just threw it in raw.

Couple of questions - do you cut up the sausage beforehand? And it makes 10 servings? How big are the servings, 1 cup?

Really good recipe though - the DH loved it too.

If you are using ground meat instead of sausage you will need to add the equivalent spices that would be in the sausage or this dish will not have enough flavour. I also topped mine with a can of sauerkraut and a can of tomato sauce. - 2/20/18

Good recipe although I spiced it up a little. Seems to me the crock pot was really not needed. I just did it on the stove. - 9/28/15

Very good. Made with ground turkey and diced tomatoes. Added canned mushrooms. Also added smoked paprika and did not precook the rice. Only fixed half recipe as only two of us. Will definitely keep this recipe! My husband is Polish and he loved it! - 3/18/14

This recipe was great! The only thing we changed was adding 2 cans of water (used the empty tomato can) and 2 bay leaves for extra flavor. It was still a little bland so I think next time we make it we'll add a can of saurkraut and remove a can of water for a little more zing. - 3/15/09

We had this for supper tonight, and DH says he would like to have it again. I made only half the recipe, and didn't have enough cabbage, less than 2 cups. I added 1/3 cup of raw brown rice and 1 cup of chicken broth to the mix, and used venison sausage for the meat. It was very tasty. 4.5 stars. - 3/3/09

I made this using ground turkey. To save time I put the uncooked brown rice directly into the crock pot along with 2 1/2 cups of chicken stock . I also added some fresh red bell pepper. My husband loved it and I thought it was pretty good, especially considering neither of us are fans of cabbage. - 10/16/07
