Introduction

Step aside, Manwich! You've got nothing on these babies! *I typically use brown sugar instead of regular sugar, and I buy as lean of beef as I can find. My fiance won't eat anyone else's Sloppy Joes after he tried these! Also, these are really large servings, you could easily cut this in half for a smaller portion with fewer calories... Very good.. recipe as shown doesn't make much sauce, basically doubled the sauce. I used no salt or mustard and added a little A1 and extra worcestershire, shredded carrots and zucchini. Yummy and easy to camoflage veggies for my kids. - 3/28/12

Had a serious craving tonight, and searched for sloppy joe recipe. This one seemed simple enough for a weeknight, but I had no catsup! Used red chili sauce instead, did not simmer as long as recommended, served open faced on sandwich thins. It was fabulous! - 4/12/10

We just had these tonight and my family loved them! This was a very filling main course, great paired with raw veggies from the garden, and I know I won't be going to bed hungry tonight, which is a major goal of mine! Thanks for sharing! - 8/10/13

This is how I make my sloppy Joes to and I use Brown sugar also not regular sugar. I do add diced green peppers when I have them in the house. Latelty Ihave been throwing in a special touch that everyone is raving about. I add about 1tps or just a little more of Sundried Tomatoes in Olive oil. - 3/1/13

I like my sloppy joes a little less sweet than most, so I added some extra Worcerstershire sauce. Made extra of the sauce in general per the recommendation of some of the other comments here. Good move. - 12/1/11

Used ground beef we had cooked the night before and just mixed up the sauce and stirred it up in a skillet for 5-10 mins on low. I am veggie but my girls sure seemed to like it! - 9/15/11

    O.K.
I don't know what I did wrong but there was not enough liquid in this recipe. i ended up throwing a cup of coca cola into it to save it, but there was not enough to simmer even close to the time mentioned. Tasted ok, but will not make again. - 10/27/10

These sloppy joes were so good! This is the first time I've made sloppy joes from Scratch and I am pretty sure I will do it again. I followed the recipe exactly how it is listed except I used ground turkey, because that's all I had. Definitely would recommend! - 5/4/10

This is now our favorite sloppy joe recipe. I've made it a couple times now. We had company last night that scarfed it all gone and now I will have to make more for tonight. They want the recipe. Needed a little more sauce and it definitely could use smaller servings. - 1/25/10

Good recipe. We needed to add a little liquid to keep it simmering over the course of the hour. I was a little put off by the mustard at first, but the flavor chilled out over the course of the simmering. I did find it to be a little vinegary. - 2/24/09
