Introduction

This is better than ice cream!! Great for those days you realize after dinner you're way under your protein limit. A treat that's good for you! This is better than ice cream!! Great for those days you realize after dinner you're way under your protein limit. A treat that's good for you!
Number of Servings: 1

Ingredients

    1/4 cup fresh raspberries
    1/2 cup nonfat Greek yogurt
    1 tbsp honey
    5 almonds, coarsely chopped

Tips

Try this frozen--we loved it that way!
You can use any kind of yogurt. I use the Greek because it's not very sweet, so it balances out the honey and berries.

Directions

Spoon the yogurt into a bowl. Drizzle the honey over it and stir. Add the raspberries and chopped almonds. I mix the honey in first so that the raspberries don't break up during stirring.

On the email I saw this recipe on, meg's tip told how to freeze: "Use frozen berries, puree until blended and freeze for an hour. Voila! Homemade berry fro-yo!" Guess you could freeze it in whatever container you choose and let it thaw a few minutes before eating. mm.. sounds good. - 10/26/12

I skip the honey and almonds...replaced with 3/4 cup of Fibre one cereal - the cereal adds the sweetness, plus extra fibre - 7/13/10

I am diabetic, so I skipped the honey and used more raspberries. I had pecans, so I used them instead of almonds, but it is a terrific recipe, very adaptable. Thanks! - 10/19/12

OH, yummy! I bought some Greek yogurt, to raise my protein intake. But it is so tart, that I was looking for recipes to use it up. I had to use frozen strawberries, that's all I had on hand, but this is delicious! Can't wait 'til I can have more! - 11/22/10

I throw six ounces of plain greek yogurt and 1/2 cup mixed berries, a packet of Stevia in the Bullet mixer, blend it together and it truly is like ice cream...what a treat! - 10/19/12

Ok, if this is a recipe submitted by a member, why doesn't the picture reflect the recipe? The member says to 'try' it frozen but the recipe has no directions on how to freeze it. Anyway, the nuts in it were awful in it. Omitted, it was ok. Sorry, not a winner for us. - 10/19/12

I used frozen raspberries and peanuts. The frozen razzes gave it an ice cream bite to it. I'm not sure if peanuts were the way to go. I'll try it again after I buy some almonds - 3/1/10

I will of course adjust toward my diet choice. Good idea!
Fat doesn't make you fat sugar does, and sugar is sugar no matter what form you get it.

Looks good, probably tastes good, but with 17 grams of sugar, I do NOT call this a BETTER than ice cream desert. Anything over 15 grams, adds to belly fat!!!!!! - 10/20/12

Did not have almonds, so I used cashews, blended to creamy, added to yogurt and fruit. Very good. When run through a food processor or super blender, cashews make a creamy non-dairy addition to recipes. Used unsw blackberries from the freezer and the honey. Very good. - 10/19/12

I use frozen berries blended with Greek Ygrt in a small foodprocessor & freeze a few min. For sweetness, I use Erithritol* or liq Splenda.

    * Erithritol is a sugar derivative that your body doesn't recognize as calories and it doesn't create stomach cramps as other "TOL's" do. Buy it online.

We made this keto friendly (LCHF) using whole fat plain yogurt and add Stevia to sweeten it, or Swerve (a mixture of erythrinol & stevia.). We add a splash of heavy whipping cream or a small spoon of coconut oil to boost healthy fats. Any nut or fruit works - walnuts, almonds blueberries etc! yum! - 7/24/16

I make smoothies this way, without freezing. I use frozen berries ,peaches, banana with Greek yogurt. If your fruit is sweet enough, you don't need sweetener. I freeze berries (sliced strawberries) on a cookie sheet, put them in a freezer bag. Bananas, very ripe - peel, slice, put in freezer bag. - 7/24/16

I add in a scoop of protein powder to get an added boost of protein. I use Inspire blueberry cheesecake or white chocolate strawberry, but any protein powder would work - maybe chocolate with frozen raspberries... I skip the honey because I don't want the extra carbs. - 7/24/16

I've used any frozen fruit put into a food processor with plain greek yogurt and add tiny amounts of stevia to get to the sweetness I want. The food processor on low makes it into a lovely sorbet. - 7/26/15
