Ingredients

    4 egg whites
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. sugar
    4 peppermint candy canes, crushed

Directions

Beat egg whites until foamy. Add salt & cream of tartar. Beat until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a foil lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with crushed candy canes. Bake at 225 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Then turn oven off and crack the door and leave pan in oven for one more hour until cool. Store in airtight container. Makes about 5 dozen.

    OMG, these are amazing! I added peppermint extract to the meringue and sprinkled them with decorators sugar instead of crushed peppermint, and they were delightful! - 11/27/10

    These are delicious!!!!! My 13 year old son was reluctant to even try them, but thank me for them after he did. So super simple. I know they are low calorie, but I will I stop myself. They are addicting. - 12/19/09

    I want to try this, but you forgot the sugar in the calorie calculation. I had something like this at a party a couple weeks ago, and I'm hoping they taste like this. - 12/15/09
