I give this recipe 5 stars! I used 6 skinless breasts instead of the dark meat. Everyone commented on how wonderful it smelled while it was cooking and they couldn't wait to dig in. I served it on a bun and also have eaten it on a whole wheat pita. It is juicy and delicious. - 6/25/13

I cooked brown rice and added about 30 min before done and the rice soaked up water making it all come together
Served with broccoli on top and a salad

This was excellent. Even sent out to other friends who love their slow cookers. Only concern, next time I will add a little cornstarch to the water because the sauce came out liquidy. I also will add some sweet onion next time. Chicken was tender and had great flavor! - 4/14/13

Lovely new recipe to add to my slow cooker range. Tender, sweet chicken. I took mine out a bit early and left the lid off the slow cooker to reduce the sauce. Great flavour. - 6/16/13

TOP NOTCH RECIPE!! I didn't use the crock pot. Instead, I used thawed boneless, skinless thighs, browned and simmered them, then made sauce. I doubled sauce recipe also, we too like more. This recipe is in my monthly menu! - 4/24/13

Did you remove the skin or is that a given? If you didn't before, did you after the chicken is cooked? I wanted to know it the skin is included in the calorie count. - 6/12/13

This was wonderful! I used 3 nice, plump skinless, boneless chicken breasts and it reached the 'pulled pork' consistency after 6 hrs on low. I poured the juice in a saucepan and boiled with 1 T cornstarch mixed with 1 T water until sauce thickened slightly. Then I poured sauce back over shredded chi - 9/29/15

Just made it for my family. I used thawed chicken thighs and it took about 5 hours instead. I LOVE this recipe. I made more sauce ONLY because my family loves extra sauce. I was fine with how it was, though. Good job :) - 4/14/13

Used skinless/boneless breasts instead of the thighs. Placed shredded chicken over cauliflower rice and alongside a baked sweet potato. My wife loved it. We both agreed that the meat was tasty and moist. - 1/20/19

I have a 24 yr old son who lives with me because his job keeps him on the road more than home, but after I made this, when he does come home, it is the first home cooked meal he asks for, along with the cauliflower rice I make to go with it. Great easy recipe! (the rice, not so much) ;) - 12/22/13

I served this over rice and it was a big hit. I didn't put as much soy sauce in, as I'm trying to watch my salt intake. I also put some cornstarch in so that it made a nice gravy. I will definitely make this again! - 7/19/20

I used bourbon ilo apple juice. I thickened sauce and didn't shred. Mine was done at 5 hours even with frozen thighs.

My son "said chicken again" with a scrunched face. He took the first bite and said " actually this is really good" he went on to eat 3 thighs. This is a keeper.
