Absolutely love this recipe and make them frequently! You can sub. homemade PB for store-bought and splenda/truvia for sugar, to cut down on fats and sugar! I also love using almond butter in place of peanut butter and alternating between crunchy and smooth PB! So versatile! - 8/23/12

The recipe I use has 3 egg whites, instead of a whole egg...so they are more like a meringue. You whip the egg whites to a meringue consistancy, add the sugar...I use Whey Low for the sugar, then gently fold in the peanut butter, bake...they melt in your mouth! - 8/23/12

Yes it has sugar, but it is a cookie after all. The recipe is not called "Low Sugar PB cookies" it's called "Easy PB cookies." And besides, SparkPeople is about a healthy lifestyle-which includes moderation. Making a dozen cookies & eating 1 won't cancel out the last 100 healthy choices you've made. - 8/23/12

I've been making this recipe for years! I add in a teaspoon of vanilla as well, just to make them more rich-tasting and not so much like sugary peanut butter. I also bake for just 10 minutes at 350, but will try the lower temp next time I make them! - 8/23/12

The way some people are commenting you would think this was 1,000 calories or something. GAIN WEIGHT? On one occasional cookie? Really? If anyone has to count their calories that much that they cannot enjoy one tiny simple treat than that's a real shame. I have (GASP) ice cream once a week. - 8/23/12

For those of us who feel the need to bake goodies now and then, I personally think this is a fabulous healthiER version to try. Yes, it has sugar - so try a substitute instead or lower the sugar content! I love it because it has no flour, has fiber and protein. I will be trying these! - 8/23/12

I agree with the other ladies.....this recipe is not saying it's super healthy, they are saying it's simple 3 ingredients! it has alot of protein! and with any sweets its all about how many you eat. eating one of these cookies is not going to be horrible, if you dont want to make them then dont! - 8/23/12

The people who are complaining must either lack common sense or lack intelligence! Just because a recipe is posted doesn't mean that you HAVE to make it! If its too much sugar, reduce the amount or sub it for sweetener or another alternative. Or to prevent you moaning further, just DON'T MAKE THEM! - 8/24/12

I think everyone is confusing what SP is here for. For one, I've never seen SP proclaim to be all about the healthiest ingredients ALL the time - no organic recipes, etc. But two, it's a cookie! Or even if it's candy, some of us like our sweets still! - 8/23/12

I love this recipe. It's especially great when you use 1/3c white sugar, 1/3 c brown sugar and 1/3 c powdered sugar. If you need to make a lot of them triple the recipe and use 1c of each sugar. Great for a cookie exchange. I also roll into balls and then in sugar before baking. - 8/23/12

I think I'll try making these using PB2 and Muscavado Sugar. Lower fat and this sugar take longer to break down in the body so it doesn't spike BG as quickly. However, moderation is still the key! - 8/23/12

If this cookie can travel well - in a pocket or backpack, then it would be the perfect nutrition for those that run/walk/hike significant mileage and time. Out on the road/trail you need carb, salt and protein replacement. Could be a good alternative to GU. - 8/23/12

My kids loved these when I made them for an after school snack paired with apple slices. I did make them smaller to stretch the batch--and used a natural PB. Next time I will play around with swapping/reducing the sugar with brown sugar and maybe some honey. Thanks for the recipe!! - 8/23/12

The recipe I use is equal amts of PB (I use the organic kind with no sugar) and dry milk, that I've used since my kids were little. It's a no-bake, though adding an egg would require baking, and I'll have to try that. It's good with chocolate bits, too, though I prefer the 90% chocolate to frost. - 8/23/12

I made the recipe as is the 1st time, but I agree with others; 197 cal is an awful lot for one cookie, so I made 3 doz smaller balls. Next time I'll try half sugar, half stevia, or all stevia to get the sugar down, and I'll continue making them small. Can't wait to try almond butter variation! - 8/23/12

Hang on, hang on! More than 1/3 of the recipe by weight is processed white sugar, and the PB isn't even specified to be the natural kind? (Regular PB has even more sugar, not to mention hydrogenated fats.) Are you kidding me? - 8/23/12

I just didn't use as much sugar as it required (used 3/4cup instead of 1 cup) to lower the sugar amount and didn't use quite 1 cup of pb either. If they turn out well (in oven now) will be making rm fr family gathering next weekend, too! - 8/23/12

I finally made these PB cookies this afternoon and they are so good and easy to make. I added Butterscotch chips and a few chopped nuts, but it is all from things you would have in your pantry. ** Excellent ** - 9/14/12

It is easier to roll into balls if you let the mixture sit a while. The peanut and the sugar blend so it is less sticky. Also, it is equally good with crunchy or creamy peanut butter. - 9/11/12

Delicious. I really like a good peanut butter cookie and these qualify for me. I used half of the sugar and replaced the other half with 0.33 cup Splenda. Then I used half tablespoon measures so the cookies seem more the size sweet snack for me. This is a make again recipe for me. - 9/10/12

My problem is the moderation thing. If I made 12 and I liked them, it would be very hard to stop. I think I'll try making half measure for 6, and experiment with using Candarel instead of sugar. - 8/27/12

If I make this I would definitely use Splenda. has way too much sugar. People say it's just one cookie. many people can't eat just one cookie. So if you can eat that many calories, go ahead enjoy. But I will remake the recepie to reduce the calories. - 8/26/12

Sorry to be disorganized, but I did forget to say that I found the taste a bit harsh when I substituted all Splenda for the sugar. But, I like them w/ 1/2 cup Splenda and 1/4 cup sugar. Personal taste being what it is, some of you may not find that acceptable. - 8/25/12

I did not like this recipe. It was easy to make, and tasted good, but the texture was all wrong. It felt like a rock in my stomach, and I had to bake it much longer than 8 minutes. I don't see how these cookies would be healthier than cookies with flour. - 8/24/12

I have to admit, I was disappointed when I clicked through my email to see this recipe. SP is promoted as a healthy website for people who want to live more healthy lifestyles. It is confusing when SP endorses a recipe that is not healthy as if it is, even in small quantities. This is a sugary snack - 8/23/12

I've known about this recipe forever! I used to make these in high school(I'm in my mid-40s).They're not the greatest PB cookies, but they are easy.I don't do artif.sweetener(or any fake "foods").I'd use brown sugar(& less of it)&PBw/omega-3 if I makethese again. That would be healthier,in moderation. - 8/23/12
