THIS WAS GOOD! HUBBY LIKED IT TOO. I ADDED I-CUP OF ROLLED OATS, 2-TABS BRN SUGAR & 1 PACKET OF STEVIA, AND 3 TBS OF SMART BALANCE LIGHT. MELTED THE BUTTER IN MICROWAVE AND MIXED IT WITH THE SUGAR, AND OATS AND PUT IT ON TOP OF THE APPLES. I ALSO USED A CUP OF WATER. (APPLE JUICE GOOD TOO) - 3/7/10

I made this on the stovetop (covered, low heat for about 10 minutes) rather than in the oven. They were really good! I sliced 1 Red Delicious apple and kept the skin on. I ate about half of them hot with breakfast. The other half I ate cold and it DID remind me of apple pie! :o) - 5/23/10

I microwave or put it in skillet on top of stove. Sometimes with skin (for fiber) or without if I want a more smooth texture. Instead of water, I use sugarfree maple syrup, add nutmeg or take an apple pie recipe and add whatever spices they do. Like a variety of apples together for varying texture - 12/15/09

I made these with Golden Delicious (the apples I had lying around) and used brown sugar instead of splenda. I must say, they turned out great! I left the peels on for more fiber, which wasn't bad! I'll definitely make this again! - 11/10/09

Nice recipe. I didn't use splenda . . . used brown sugar just 1 tsp. The apples have enough natural sweetness. - 9/14/18

I like to keep the peelings on! Adds fiber and they soften as they bake. Also can add a little crumb topping to make an apple crisp. Very good. - 7/9/18

Delicious. I didn't peel the apples added 1 tsp. Water to each individual baking dish the second time for a more syrupy sauce. And better portion control.
Some in my family like a packet of instant oatmeal sprinkled over the top and it makes a crunchy topping. good on yogurt or oatmeal.

Melted butter and added brown sugar & oats, and increased water as suggested. Very yummy! Next time I won't increase water as it was runny, and may just stick to original recipe. Hard to improve on Mother Nature. - 2/24/13

This was sooo yummy! I used a red juicy apple which made it a little watery. With the same apples, I would skip the added water and cook it uncovered so it had less liquid in the end. Even watery, it was still excellant! - 9/30/11

We used fairly large chunks of apple, not slices. And we were creative with spices and used orange juice instead of water. This is a really pleasant way to eat apples during the cold winter. - 12/27/09

I ate them with skin as a single serving, but I only had granny smith apples on hand, so that's what I used and they were still really great! Next time I'll add more water to get a little more syrup and try to be patient and cook them in the oven instead of the microwave. Awesome recipe! - 12/18/09
