We used dark chocolate; otherwise left the other ingredients the same. My 6 year old Grand-daughter loved helping with these. - 12/22/13

Used crushed peppermint candy that comes in a bag. I cut into bite size squares and they looked great on a cookie tray for a holiday potluck. Chocolate and crushed peppermint was really festive - and you can never go wrong with Rice Krispie treats. - 12/22/13

I made these recently for a party at work and it was a hit! I did put the crushed candy canes under the chocolate (so they stayed adhered to the treat) and I also used white chocolate on half. I was very festive in my directional drizzling and trust me when I say this treat can be dressed up! - 2/17/15

With the recent studies of high levels of arsenic in rice and especially in processed foods, I am staying away from foods like this. I am surprised that Sparkpeople would feature this. Sorry.
It does sound good, though. :(

It's beyond me why you would want to ruin a perfectly nice treat with even more sugar. The chocolate is slathered on there and it looks like a total mess. Perhaps just dipping the treat in chocolate on one side would cut down on the calories and still accomplish what you want. - 12/22/13

I couldn't get the chocolate chips melted to where they would "drizzle". I tried adding a little water, but that didn't help much. I ended up using a lot more chocolate chips and spread the melted chocolate on like frosting. Can't go wrong with more chocolate, except for the calories of course. - 12/24/15

I used the dark chocolate and candy bits out of a bag. Recipe as given is very dry and does not keep well--I used the whole bag of dark chocolate chips and could not use a full 8 cups of cereal. - 2/14/15

When I make a lot of rice Krispies they get inhaled. So I like to make small amounts. - 12/6/14
