I used whole wheat flour, butter instead of margarine (no trans fats), decreased sugars to 2/3 cup each, and switched salt to 1/2 tsp and cinnamon to 1 tsp. Very soft, chewy cookie with delicious flavor but a bit dry. (?due to the changes). Good recipe just the same. - 9/21/11

I used one cup of white flour, and one cup of whole wheat flour. I also used one cup of large flake oatmeal and 2 cups of small flake oatmeal. I'd probably throw in some coconut and or substituted one cup of oatmeal with one cup of crushed corn flakes. - 10/18/20

I just made these cookies. Only I didn't use 3 cups of oats. I used 1 cup of oats, 1 cup of 5 grain granola with rasins, and 1 cup of Cranberry/nut trail mix. The cookies turned out FANTASTIC. VERY good!!! - 3/5/09
