Introduction

A great milky beverage that contains no milk!

I tried this at an authentic Mexican get-together a few years ago, and I've been drinking it every chance I get ever since.

There are many variations, but this is a basic version that satisfies my cravings. Enjoy!

My mother in law, from Mexico, taught me a TON of mexican recipes. Horchata is one of my favorites, but instead of combining everything first, put your rice and warm water in a blender and chop the rice first then add other stuff next day b4 straining. You'll get more of the rice taste coming thru! - 12/8/08

    Incredible!
I reduced everything down to make 2 servings as this was a test and what a great addition this is going to make to my recipe book. I will definitely make this again...and I did take the suggestion to chop the rice first. - 5/11/19

I have made this recipe and it is delicious! Growing up we drank it often, instead of carbonated drinks. And kids love it too! Many say it tastes like melted vanilla ice cream. - 12/30/08
