If you have strong sweet tooth (I do) use vanilla yogurt and skip the sugar to save some calories. - 4/13/09

Why sabotage a healthy snack with 1/2c sugar? (360 calories just for the sugar) I made it without and it still tastes great! - 1/14/09

I too really enjoyed this "soup". Floated some chopped strawberries on top and used Splenda instead of sugar which lowers the calories. Good source of Vitamin C. Kids love it too. - 10/30/08

I agree, you can eat it or drink it, made without the sugar, used vanilla yogurt and a handful of ice cubes instead of the water. Came out great! - 6/23/10

Loved it! I upped the ginger a bit, used fresh, and didn't have allspice on hand so I used cinnamon, clove and nutmeg and it tasted great. - 6/13/10

This is excellent! And so easy to make. I used Greek yogurt because I like the consistency, and I think it added a little tang. - 7/5/11

I only used about 1 Tablespoon of sugar. I did not have allspice on hand so I used a little cinnamon, ground cloves and two cardomon pods. Next time I will not add the cloves, but this is a keeper. - 5/16/11

I can't see, personally, the need for sugar with strawberries. But I know lots of folk find them a bit sour.
This soup sounds just like a smoothie. I love a smoothie made with strawberries, nectarines or peach or raspberries, kiwi, yogurt, milk and lime juice. I'll try it sometime with orange juice

I drink a fruit smoothie every morning it is a great way to get your daily fruit and no need for sugar fruit acts as natural sweetener. also helps to curb cravings of something sweet at night when I have the munchies and usually go for something filled with sugar just blend up some berries and enjoy - 1/26/09

I love the idea of fruit soups...I remember having Blueberry Soup from Norway, and it was served chilled with a dollop of cream on top. Delicious and good way to get your daily fruit servings. Loved it. - 10/30/08

I make something very very similar to this. It is best in summer with fresh berries but is a very refreshing treat made with frozen berries in the dead of winter. It's like a spot of summer in the middle of winter. Love it. - 10/30/08

My mother used to make this for us all the time, I don't remember the recipe, but I know it had sour cream in it. It is really good though; to drink through a straw or sip off a spoon! - 10/30/08

It sounds yummy, but what an odd time to post this recipe when it's out of season. I'll save it for summer, but hope more fall and winter items come up during this time of year. - 10/30/08
