Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    6 tablespoons honey
    6 tablespoons soy sauce
    6 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger root
2 clove garlic, crushed or to taste
    2 teaspoons olive oil
6 (4 ounce) mahi mahi fillets
    salt and pepper to taste

Directions

DIRECTIONS
In a shallow glass dish, stir together the honey, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, ginger, garlic and olive oil. Season fish fillets with salt and pepper, and place them into the dish. If the fillets have skin on them, place them skin side down. Cover, and refrigerate for 20 minutes to marinate.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove fish from the dish, and reserve marinade. Fry fish for 4 to 6 minutes on each side, turning only once, until fish flakes easily with a fork. Remove fillets to a serving platter and keep warm.
Pour reserved marinade into the skillet, and heat over medium heat until the mixture reduces to a glaze consistently. Spoon glaze over fish, and serve immediately.

This IS a great recipe! I left the fish in the marinade for several hours and instead of pan frying the fish, I took it out and put it on a George Foreman grill - it was perfectly done! I also added a little bit of cornstarch to the glaze - MUAH! - 9/15/09

I really liked the flavour combinations but I found the recipe a bit too sweet for my taste. Next time I will reduce the honey and use a low sodium soy sauce. I will make it again. - 4/25/17

The glaze was great. We broiled the fish instead of frying it. - 1/21/12

Awesome!!! The only change I bad was to broil the fish on a cooking stone. Yummy!!! - 9/7/11

Very good. I used Soyaki sauce in place of Soy and marinated 30 min. I omitted the oil and used my George Foreman grill. We served over Orzo which was perfect with the sauce. Will try with Tilapia, Shrimp, Salmon, Chicken AND Pork. :-) - 2/11/11

This was so good! I didn't have soy sauce at the time, so I used Worstecheshire sauce instead. It turned out great. I finally got some soy sauce, and I am going to make this again tonight. I used Swai instead of Mahi Mahi. Still really good! - 12/29/10

This was my second time having mahi mahi, the first being at McCormick & Schmicks. I realize after eating this that I just don't like mahi mahi. The glaze was good, but couldn't mask the flavor of the fish. - 11/19/10

I made this recipe last night. I am not a fish fan... but I enjoyed this. It had a great flavor. Not fishy at all. I think this recipe would be great on chicken. May give it a try! - 8/4/10

My husband hates fish, but tries to eat it at least 1 - 2 times a week. There is always some left over in his plate. When he ate this, his plate was clean. He said it was good, which means to the rest of the world, it is fantstic! - 7/30/10

WOW! The WHOLE family loved this from the toddler to this old man! I served this with Green Giant Teryaki Veggies and some Brown Rice. Fantastic stuff...can't wait until I make this again :) - 5/26/10

I've made this twice, first as directed & on the Foreman Grille & it was excellent both times. My kids even loved it. It gives the fish a great flavor & is incredibly easy to make. Adding the cornstarch as FROSTAGAIN mentioned thickened the sauce up super fast. Thanks! - 3/11/10

This was so delicious! The mahi mahi was so tasty and it just fell apart with my fork. The sauce was perfect and I am absolutely in love with fresh ginger. I used cooking spray instead of oil to save on calories and it made no difference. This is going to be made all the time! - 1/8/10

Excellent recipe! I made this with Mahi Mahi and want to try it with Salmon next. I had the pan a little too hot and the honey in the glaze burned a little on the fish. I think that the idea of using a cedar plank would be great. My husband is a picky fish eater and loved this. - 7/11/09

    Incredible!
I followed the recipe exactly (except I grilled the fish instead of pan frying) and made both Mahi Mahi and Salmon. Both were absolutely yummy! Restaurant quality flavor. The glaze was so good, i wanted to just eat it with a spoon! This would probably be really good with chicken as well. - 7/7/09

This was amazing! I used tilapia instead of mahi mahi, but it was still incredible. My boyfriend and I both loved it! I will definitely make it again - maybe next time with salmon. Thanks for a great recipe! - 6/25/09

Wonderful! Used tilapia since I didn't have mahi. I substituted fresh mango for the honey and added sauted jalapenos. This will be a regular in our house. - 6/18/09

I made this last night. It was super tasty. I even omitted the ginger since I didn't have any and added a dash of sesame oil. Served with roasted zucchini and brown rice. Will definitely make this one again! - 6/10/09

I made this with salmon--also INCREDIBLE!! Instead of cooking on stovetop, hubby BBQ'd it on a cedar plank and was very tasty. Served w/ grilled peaches and grilled sweet potatoes-as they complemented the sweetness of the salmon! - 6/8/09
