Ingredients

    1 tbsp Tahini
    2 tbsp Lemon Juice
    1 tbsp Soy Sauce
    1 dash Black Pepper, ground
    1/2 tbs Ginger, ground
1 tbsp Plain Yogurt, fat free (optional)
    1-2 tbsp water (optional)

Directions

Place tahini in a bowl, add soy sauce and dry ingredients and whisk with a fork until smooth.
Add lemon juice and yogurt and whisk again. You could add the lemon juice in the previous step but it will be harder to get the mixture smooth.
If mixture is still too thick add some water and whisk again.
Store in the refrigerator, bring to room temperature before serving.

This was lovely and refreshing, w/ W/W pita and baby spinach, butter lettuce wedges w/ boiled egg and thinly sliced onion and roasted sesame seeds... Middle eastern/Asian culture is my life. Tahina can never be boring to me, but I like the nouveau twist by adding SOY sauce. I usually use EVOO. ;o) - 3/10/09

I can't find tahini at local stores. I tried grinding sesame seeds into paste and used that for the recipe. Does tahini have any other ingredients besides sesame seeds?

I did like it on celery!

Glad you liked it! I don't think tahini has any other ingredients besides sesame seeds but they might sometimes add sesame oil in commercial batches to make it runnier.

Tahini has about the same calorie/fat analysis as peanut butter, so use accordingly. Very delicious, nutritious, and a source of "good fat". Just be aware of portion size. This recipe serving size is for 1 teaspoon of tahini. I do love my tahini!

I didn't realize tahini was low calorie and low fat, so I avoided it in the past. This is GREAT for variety in veggie flavors. - 2/29/08

Don't understand your abbreviations. Usually Tablespoon is Tbsp, and Teaspoon is tsp; TBS (for the ginger) is not a correct measurement for any ingredient. Please clarify this recipe, then I would love to try it. - 5/21/08

CATHYM5514-Everyone I know uses TBS/Tbs to mean tablespoon-perhaps it's a midwestern thing. Hope that helps you. Clarysage-are you sure 6 Tbs. of ingredients yields only 3 Tsp. of Tahini Dip? Can't wait to try it! - 5/30/08

I prefer to add chickpeas and not the soy sauce. The yogurt was a nice touch. I normally make Tazitki to go with the tahini on couscous (with fresh cucumbers, tomatoe and onions). - 3/5/08

Enjoyed this. Made it without the yogurt and dressed lettuce. Would be very good on other chopped veggies or marinated with chicken. I will probably vary the amount of lemon next time, depending on what I'm using it for (the lemon too strong for lettuce, but would be awesome on chicken, etc.) - 6/12/14

I really like this dressing. I think it could be used on cooked veggies as well. - 1/6/12

It's actually unattractive - the soy sauce makes it a yucky brown. The measurements made it much too watery for me - it's sitting in the fridge.

I was trying to find one that turned out a rosy color but now cannot find it again.
