Bob's Red Mill TVP, 0.50 cup
*Brown Rice, long grain, 2 cup
Yellow Sweet Corn, Canned, 1 can (12 oz)
Onions, raw, 0.5 cup, chopped
Chili Powder 1tsp
Garlic Powder 1tsp
Salt 1tsp
Pepper to taste
Directions
Cook rice.
Brown TVP with Onions and spices.
Cook 2-3 minutes.
Add rice and corn, cook another 5 minutes.
Add other ingredients to give different flavors to this versatile base.

I added a can of Rotel tomatoes w/lime & cilantro, an extra 1/2 tsp. crushed cilantro, &1/4 tsp. each thyme and sage (to simulate sausage flavoring). This recipe is a good idea. I think, personally, I would add a bit more chili, onions, and garlic, but, I love where this seems to be headed. Thanks. - 4/10/09

TVP is Textured Vegetable Protein. It comes in a cereal like granulated form (typically) and when reconstituted (boiling water, usually with a bit of soy sauce and some ketchup) it serves as a great Vegetarian 'hamburger' substitute.
Couldn't get by without the stuff, seriously.
