Introduction

Even my hubby loves this recipe. I try to keep it on hand for quick lunches and easy dinners. It's great on toasted bread with soy cheese and a big tomato slice. Even my hubby loves this recipe. Yes, i have made a similar recipe, except I coarsly chopped the drained beans in a blender then add mayo and relish. Tastes like the real thing - 5/13/09

Thank you for posting this. I modified it and made it into a veg "tuna" melt. For awhile I had used Tuno until Whole Foods stopped carrying it, but this is way better. I just had this for breakfast and want it again for lunch already. - 10/18/10

For extra "fishy" taste, I skipped the mustard and added a little bit of shredded seaweed (find dried at a Chinese grocer). That helps contribute to the tuna taste without adding much (virtually nothing!) to the calories. Try a bit of diced celery & onion for texture. - 2/20/14

Oh my lanta!! I do NOT like garbanzo beans, and I just couldn't fathom this recipe tasting like "the real thing" with BEANS instead of tuna - but boy was I ever wrong! SO delicious! I added some plain mustard instead, and two chopped hard boiled eggs. I will definitely make this again and again!! - 5/11/10

Great! I also like cutting back the mustard and adding some nutritional yeast and garlic powder/pepper. This is one of my favorite quick lunches, so I love seeing other versions. - 4/25/10

It's vegan mayo :) You can sub anything you like, I just think that it tastes the best out of all of the options.

I make a very similar version of this with low-fat Nansoya and no mustard. It's amazing! The garbanzos are so darn tasty and it really woks well as a tuna like dish. YUM. - 5/9/09

This was very tasty. I passed it around at the lunch table to all my meat eating friends. Although they all agreed it was good they said it did not taste like tuna. - 3/4/12

This recipe is good if you add some nori to the mix. The seaweed gives it a from the sea flavor, without a from the sea fish! Also, I like to kick mine up a notch, so I sub in a bit of horseradish for part of the veganaise and add some hot deli mustard. YUM! - 11/2/12

made this last night using mostly chipotle veganaise and little roasted garlic veganaise. it was pretty delicious! not a huge mustard fan, so left that out, as well as the relish. still tasty! - 9/10/12

Quick, tasty, appealing. Says a lot that I had all of the ingredients handy, including the Vegenaise. My dough blender was a great tool for smashing the garbanzos. I recommend adding the relish first, the beans will soak up the sweet taste. - 7/26/12

I am so amazed this really tastes like tuna salad. I changed mine slightly. Put all ingredients in food processor, added the vega wise, Dijon mustard, dill and celery seed, salt and pepper. Delicious ; ) - 10/30/11

I don't think this tastes anything like Tuna, having said that it still was tasty and easy to make. I liked it because I usually have all these ingredients on hand anyways! I will make this again with some substitutions. - 2/21/11
