Introduction
This is surprisingly good (don't be scared of the spinach) and it doesn't involve any juice or yogurt, both of which can up the sugar/carb content of smoothies. It is an incredibly powerful way to start the day and recover from a workout. Ingredients
-
Frozen Mixed Berries, 2 cups
Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein Powder Gold 1 scoop. (This is the brand I use. Others will work, just be sure they don't have too much sugar or carbs, particularly no high fructose corn syrup).
**Flax Seed Meal (ground flax), 1 tbsp
*Splenda, 1 packet
Spinach, fresh, 1 cup
About 1 cup of warm/hot water
Directions
This makes one serving, but it's two big glasses, so it could easily be split if needed.
Basically toss the frozen berries, protein powder, splenda and flax into the blender.
Then fill blender with warm/hot water up to the top of the berries. (This helps melt the berries for easier blending. Don't worry, it will still be cold).
Then rinse the spinach and stick it on top, hit blend and wait a minute or two.
This is so good for you, a delicious way to get in veggies first thing in the morning!

Thanks! I should really try the kiwi - that sounds so refreshing! I recently added 2 oz of Aloe Vera juice for extra nutrient absorption. I'm not sure if that works, but I read it somewhere ...
