Ingredients

    Canola Oil, 2 tbsp
Rice, white, long-grain, regular, raw, enriched, 1 cup
    2 Cups water
    Salt, 1 tsp
    Knorr Chicken Bouillon, 2 tsp
    Tomato Sauce, 1/2 cup

Directions

In a medium size metalic skillet brown 1 c. of white rice with oil. Don't get it too dark, just enough for the rice to turn a barely golden color.

Add 1/2 cup of tomato sauce along with 2 cups of water once it has been browned a bit.

Next add the salt and bouillon seasonings.
Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

Very Good! I cut the salt to almost nothing and added 3/4 t of cumin and cilantro, next time I will increase both of these and will try using salsa instead of tomato sauce to add a bit more flavor. Thank you for sharing! - 3/21/11

You can do this without the oil, without the salt and reduce the sodium and fat a heck of a lot. Just throw the chicken bouillion in with the rice when you boil it, add cayenne/cajun spice/chili powder and then garnish with chopped green onions when it's finished. - 7/16/13

LOVE this recipe! I used the advice of others, adding cumin and chili powder. I also will add black beans, salsa with a little cheese on top for a meal! It's a very versatile recipe, I use it for a lot of things, and make changes here and there. Thanks for sharing! - 12/17/11

Great and EASY recipe. I was looking for a rice recipe, and I had VERY limited ingredients. This came out perfect, just like in a Mexican restaurant. It went great with pinto beans. A lot of sodium, so it won't be good for people trying to cut down on it, but otherwise, it's amazing! - 1/12/11

Made this without the oil or browning the rice to save 80 calories a cup (which is a lot just for some oil WOW), just tossed everything in the rice cooker. Used half the bullion dissolved in Chicken broth, came out great! - 1/9/11

I halved the salt and it was still too salty (probably ruined some of the taste for me). I'd say go for 1- 1.5 tsp salt...you can always add more to taste at the end. - 1/18/09
