Healthy, but a word of caution. Always watch carefully when you try this as the paper bag can catch fire. Also, never pop corn in plastic bags or plastic containers. The kernels get too hot and will melt the plastic. A better idea is to get a microwave popcorn popper, available under $10. - 9/14/09

I finally tried this and now have everyone in the family trying it. Just like air-popped! I love the lack of sodium. I pre-spray the kernels with a tiny bit a PAM - it makes all of them pop, no old maids. - 9/29/09

It tastes much better with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Mix the oil, salt, and popcorn together, throw into bag, and pop in microwave until 2 or more seconds pass between "pops". Delicious snack. - 7/11/10

I love air-popped popcorn. Another healthier alternative is to use a Sugar paper bag (eg. a 1 kg/ 500 g Hullets bag). Only put the unpopped popcorn in there (2 or 3 tablespoons) and close/fold the bag. Microwave for 150 - 180 secondes. - 12/27/07

I tried this today when I found a bag of popcorn kernels at the grocery store for only $2. The label says 24 servings. That sure beats microwave popcorn, plus it's a lot healthier for you. Mine came out a little overcooked but I have plenty to experiment with until I get it just right. - 10/1/12

Excellent suggestion! I am a popcorn addict. The brown bag way is the easiest and healthiest method to enjoy popcorn, no sodium. I like spraying nonfat, soy oil base butter on the popcorn with a dash of seasoning. Yum! - 3/23/10

Outstanding. Low-cal popcorn is hard to find in the UK and this stuff fits the bill perfectly. I added a little Chalua to the unpopped corn before microwaving and it turned out great. - 1/5/08

Although I use a silicone popper designed for the microwave, the basis of this recipe - microwaved popcorn - is spot on! Additionally, younger family members can make popcorn this way. My 11 year old son happily makes popcorn for the family without using the stove. - 9/11/19

I added 1 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil, and 1/2 tsp of salt then put it into the bag. Microwaved for 2 1/2 minutes. Came out perfect and all the kernels popped I topped with a little sprinkle of nutmeg and cinnamon, just to spice it up. No more buying microwave popcorn.

I LOVE this recipe. It's easy, it's REALLY cheap, and you get a whole lot of popcorn for not very many calories. Plus if it's a little boring by itself, there are tons of ways you can spice it up. Frankly I feel it's perfect just plan. Enough for me to munch on happily for a half hour. - 6/21/11

I heard that you should never put a paper bag in the microwave as it is likely to catch fire. Instead, invest in an air popper. You can get one relatively cheap for $20 or so, and it is just as healthy. - 5/13/10
