Introduction

It's a hearty cold day stew that thrills all around. Great with saltines or biscuits. It's a hearty cold day stew that thrills all around. Great with saltines or biscuits.

Ingredients

    2 tbsp olive oil
    1 medium onion
    3 stalks celery
    1 lb ground beef lean
    8 cups of water
    2 cans of diced tomatoes
    4 medium potatoes
    5 carrots
    1.5 cup frozen corn
    1 (10 oz) frozen peas
    1 cup chopped cabbage

Directions

Put the olive oil in bottom of a big pot and then saute the chopped onion and chopped celery. Add the ground beef and cook until brown. Drain the extra fat after browned. Chop the potatoes, cabbage and carrots and add with the water, tomatoes, corn and peas in the pot . Simmer on medium heat for a half an hour, stirring occasionally. Add salt and pepper to taste and add the sugar at the end. Makes 12 servings of 1.5 cups each.
