This is a Spanish dessert that I am making for my Spanish class for Cinco De Mayo. This is a Spanish dessert that I am making for my Spanish class for Cinco De Mayo.Number of Servings: 15
Ingredients
*2 cup - Wheat flour, white, all-purpose, enriched, calcium-fortified,
*1/2 tsp - Salt
* 2/3 cup - Shortening
* 6 Tbs - Water
*2 1/2 Apple slices (optional, but uses fruit)
* 1 tsp - Ground Cinnamon
* 1/2 tsp Ground Nutmeg
* 1 cup - Splenda
You can use almost any kind of fruit, so long as you have about 2 and a half cups of that fruit.
Directions
TO MAKE DOUGH:
1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in the shortening until it is in pieces the size of small peas.
2. Add some water to slightly moisten.
3. Form dough into a ball, roll out the dough to about 1/8 of an inch thick and cut into 4 inch circles. Lightly flour both sides of the circles.
TO MAKE FRUIT FILLING:
1. In a saucepan combine fruit, Splenda, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
2. Heat over medium heat until hot, thoroughly mixing.
BAKING:
1. Place a large spoonful of the fruit mixture on to the center of a dough circle.
2. Place another circle on top.
3. Fasten the two circles together by pressing the edges with a fork. These may then be baked in a preheated 350 degree F oven until Golden brown. (175 degrees C)
Cooking times may vary by oven.
