Ingredients

    Sara Lee Delightful Whole Wheat Bread 3 slices toasted & made crumbs (freeze unused portions)

    Bush's, Black Beans drained & rinsed
    Green Peppers (bell peppers) 3/4 reserve 1/4 diced fine
    Onions, raw, 1 medium (2-1/2" dia)
    Garlic, 3 cloves
    Egg, fresh, 1 large
    Chili powder, 1 tbsp
    McCormick ground cumin, 1 tbsp
    Hot Pepper Sauce, 1 tsp

Directions

Make breadcrumbs in food processor.

If grilling, preheat an outdoor grill for high heat, & lightly oil a sheet of aluminum foil. If baking, preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C), & lightly oil a baking sheet.

In a medium bowl, mash black beans with a fork until thick and pasty.

In a food processor, finely chop bell pepper EXCEPT the reserved 1/4, onion, and garlic. Then stir into mashed beans including reserved pepper.

In a small bowl, stir together egg, chili powder, cumin, and chili sauce.

Stir the egg mixture into the mashed beans. Mix in bread crumbs until the mixture is sticky and holds together. Divide mixture into six patties.

If grilling, place patties on foil, and grill about 8 minutes on each side. If baking, place patties on baking sheet, and bake about 10 minutes on each side.
