Introduction
I modified a recipe I found on Allrecipes (author: Burnstein) to add fiber and reduce sugar and fat. You could reduce the honey further to 1/4 cup also. Ingredients

3 1/2 cups old fashioned oats
1 cup Rice Krispies cereal
1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup flaxseed meal
1/4 cup oat bran
1 teas baking soda
1 teas vanilla extract
1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/2 cup honey
1 cup miniature semi-sweet chocolate chips (do not use regular size chips)
2 egg whites
Directions
Makes 18 bars.
1. Preheat oven to 325F. Line a 9 x 13 pan with parchment paper overlapping pan edges.
2.in a large mixing bowl, combine the oats, rice krispies, flour, baking soda, oat bran, and flaxseed meal. Stir in the egg whites, vanilla, honey and applesauce until well incorporated. Stir in the chocolate chips.
3.Press the mixture hard into the prepared pan. Bake at 325 for 9 minutes. Remove from oven--using parchment press the mixture into the pan again. Return to oven, bake another 13 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven, press down into pan again.
4. Let cool partially. While still warm, cut into 18 bars. Put pan in fridge to cool. Lift out of pan using parchment, cut completely. Individually plastic wrap each bar to keep fresh.
