Introduction
This is a traditional recipe for milk porridge. I've listed it as a "dessert" because it is sweet, although it is a proper breakfast meal on its own. This is a traditional recipe for milk porridge. Ingredients
-
Skim Milk, 4 cup
corn flour, 0.25 cup (4 Tbsp)
Granulated Sugar, 0.25 cup (4 Tbsp) (or substitute sweetener)
Salt, 0.5 tsp
Egg, 1 medium
Cinnamon ground, 0.5 tsp
Directions
Step 1: Boil the milk.
Step 2: Combine the corn flour, sugar, and salt together. Mix with a little milk, just to make a very liquid mixture.
Step 3: Beat the egg.
Step 4: Combine the milk (step 1), the flour mixture (step 2) and the egg (step 3). Mix together and begin cooking together. Stir occasionally, to avoid lumps from forming.
*If you're using the stove, then a warm, near-boil is good. If you're using the microwave oven, multiple rounds of 2 min on high, with intermitted stirring is good. *
Cooking time is around 10-15 minutes. The porridge will thicken a lot during this time.
Step 5: Sprinkle cinnamon over top, let cool a little bit, and serve warm.
Hints: The sugar may be substituted with sweetener. The recipe can be broken down into smaller servings. I have made it with 1/2 ingredients (except for the egg) and it still turned out great!
