Ingredients
-
f1 c. warm water, divided
1 1/8 tsp. dry active yeast
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. onion powder
2 c. white whole wheat flour
1 tbsp. olive oil
additional white flour for rolling out
Directions
Place 1/4 c. warm water in medium mixing bowl. Add sugar and yeast. Allow to proof for 5 minutes, until creamy. Add salt, powders, and flour. Add enough water to make a soft but not too sticky dough. Pour oil into another bowl and turn dough out into bowl. Cover and let rise 15-20 minutes.
Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface. Roll or press into a 4x8" rectangle. With a sharp knife, cut into 10 equal pieces. Place a small amount of flour onto counter top. Gently push down the center of ball with the palm of your hand. Then roll out into a 6" circle.
Heat a nonstick skillet over low-medium heat. Place bread circles in skillet. Cook until lightly browned and bubbly. Turn over and continue cooking. Each side needs about three minutes.
Repeat with remaining dough. Great for tacos, sandwiches, mini pizzas and more!
