* Ground beef, lean, 32 oz (remove)
* Onions, raw, 1 cup, chopped (remove)
* Green Peppers (bell peppers), 0.5 cup, chopped (remove)
* Garlic, 3 clove (remove)
* Pureed Tomatoes, 1 can (29 oz) (401 x 411) (remove)
* Chili powder, 4 tbsp (remove)
* Salt, 1.5 tsp (remove)
Directions
About 1-1/2 hours before serving:
In 5-quart Dutch oven over medium heat, in hot salad oil, cook ground beef, onions, green pepper and garlic until onion is tender, about 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Add tomato puree, chili powder and salt; heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Serve in soup bowls; accompany with saltines, if desired.
