Introduction
Originally a recipe for granola bars....I've tweaked it to make granola that you can grab by the handful. This recipe makes twelve 1/3 Cup servings. Ingredients
-
1 1/2 C Old fashioned oatmeal
1/2 C Almonds, chopped
1/2 C Pecans, chopped
1/2 C Sunflower seeds
1/2 C Dried cranberries, chopped
1 to 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon
1/4 C Honey
1/2 C Unsweetened Applesauce
1/8 C Brown Sugar
1/2 C Hershey's dark chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 and line a cookie sheet with foil sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
Combine first six ingredients in bowl and mix to combine. Add applesauce, brown sugar, and honey and stir until well coated. Pour onto cookie sheet and spread out evenly. Bake for 10 minutes (sometimes 12) and then flip over and bake for an additional 10 minutes. (See note**) Allow to cool on pan, then break up and place into bowl. Add chocolate chips and stir to combine. I usually divide this up into snack bags right away or I find myself munching, munching, munching!
**NOTE: It's tempting to leave this in the oven until it looks like it's well browned, but it hardens after it comes out of the oven. So stick pretty closely to the baking times.
