Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 cup fresh basil
    1/4 cup walnut pieces
    2 cloves garlic
    6 oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes (or dry and rehydrated with hot water then drained)
    2 tbsp grated parmesan
    1/4 tsp kosher salt
    1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
    6 tbsp olive oil
    12oz Whole Wheat pasta (fettuccini, linguini, or spaghetti)

Directions

Chop basil, walnuts and garlic in a food processor. Add tomatoes, cheese, salt and red pepper. Pulse to combine, scraping down sides. Drizzle in oil with machine running. Process to a coarse paste.

Cook pasta according to package directions omitting fat and salt. Add 1 cup of cooking water to processor and pulse until smooth.

Toss pesto with drained pasta in the warm pot.

Makes 4 main servings or 6-8 side servings.

    Incredible!
    really easy recipe - I doubled or tripled the garlic and would have reduced some of the cooking water to 3/4 cup or a little less - rave reviews, does not feel very heavy - 7/6/11
