Ingredients

    1. Brussel Sprouts, 1 pound
    2. Olive oil, 1 Tbsp
    3. Butter, unsalted, 20g
    4. Onions, finely chopped, 1/4 small onion
    5. Chicken broth, low fat, low sodium, 0.75 cup
    6. Salt (optional)

Directions

Heat oil over high heat in a skillet. Add Brussel sprouts and brown all over by shaking the pan often. Season with salt to taste. Remove Brussel sprouts form pan, reduce heat to medium high and add butter to melt. Add onions and saute for a minute or 2. Add the sprouts back in, add the chicken broth, cover, reduce heat to medium low, and cook for 30 minutes or until sprouts are soft and tender.

    Yum bowla! i put this in my crock pot so that i would have this for dinner. i used water than the broth but added the morning star sauage crumbles. i just did not have the broth. one serving i did with the butter the other serving i did with swiss cheese and not the butter. loved this recipe. - 6/4/10

    I often make these and I add a couple of slices of microwave bacon or ham that I cut up into bits. The addition of the bacon or ham adds some protein so that this can be a meal. - 7/15/09
