Introduction

This is the sauce from Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook, Szechwan Beef Stir Fry, very slightly tweaked. It can be used with any desired ingredients to make a nice stir-fry. Ingredients

    3 tbsp. cooking sherry
    3 tbsp. low-sodium soy sauce
    2 tbsp. water
    2 tbsp. hoisin sauce
    2 tsp. cornstarch
    2 tsp. ground ginger
    1 tsp. sugar
    1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper (or to taste)
    black pepper to taste
    2 cloves garlic, minced

Directions

Combine all ingredients well. After stir-frying desired ingredients, add sauce to center of pan or wok. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly, and stir throughout meat and vegetables. Allow to cook 1-2 minutes until sauce is heated thoroughly.
