This sauce is great on pasta, chicken and sandwiches. This sauce is great on pasta, chicken and sandwiches.
Number of Servings: 4


    3 cups lightly packed Basil Leaves
    1/4 cup olive oil
    4 tbsp lemon juice
    2 cloves garlic minced
    1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
    12 whole almonds (can substitute pine nuts)
    salt and pepper to taste


1. Place all ingredients EXCEPT the oil in a food processor.
2. While food processor is on, slowly add oil
3. Process until desired texture.
4. Serve with pasta, on chicken, or as a condiment to chicken.

    AMAZING! This recipe is the answer to my pesto prayers. It's zesty and light, but really satisfies the pesto craving! I can't bring myself to use a 300 calorie sauce on my dinner, but this I can do! - 2/20/09

  • I didn't have enough basil leaves, so I added fresh parsley to make up the 3 cups. Delicious - 7/29/09
